Group Delay-NLO Ultra-Slow Light and Enhanced Nonlinear Optical Effects in a Coherently Driven Hot Atomic Gas
نویسندگان
چکیده
We report the observation of small group velocities of order 90 meters per second, and large group delays of greater than 0.26 ms, in an optically dense hot rubidium gas (≈ 360 K). Media of this kind yield strong nonlinear interactions between very weak optical fields, and very sharp spectral features. The result is in agreement with previous studies on nonlinear spectroscopy of dense coherent media. PACS numbers 42.50.-p, 42.55.-f, 42.50.Gy Typeset using REVTEX

متن کاملNonlinear optics and quantum entanglement of ultraslow single photons
Two light pulses propagating with slow group velocities in a coherently prepared atomic gas exhibit dissipation-free nonlinear coupling of an unprecedented strength. This enables a single-photon pulse to coherently control or manipulate the quantum state of the other. Processes of this kind result in generation of entangled states of radiation field and open up new prospectives for quantum info...

This work investigates the structural and nonlinear optical properties of a D-A type 1-[4-({(E)-[4-(methylsulfanyl)phenyl]methylidene}amino)phenyl]ethanone, MMP in which charge transfer occurs from -SCH3 donor to -COCH3 acceptor group through methylidene backbone; and some of its modeled analogues using quantum chemical calculations with pure BLYP and hybrid B3LYP correlation with high basis se...
متن کاملSteep anomalous dispersion in coherently prepared Rb vapor
Investigations of coherent effects in resonant media, namely coherent population trapping (CPT) and electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) [1,2], which can dramatically modify the absorptive and dispersive properties of an atomic vapor, have caused a rebirth of interest in the problem of light propagation through a dispersive medium. In the last decade, the study of the dispersive prope...
